TSDF Auditing Experience
?Our PR department tells me that the bad press, damage control, and loss
of skittish customers just for being associated with a "bad
actor" can result in a cost of approximately $3 million,
irrespective of any clean up activity.?
-Chip Stewart, ChevronPhillips
That is a sobering quote. Although most
everyone understands the “cradle to grave” concept of their
generated wastes, still too many corporations place themselves at
risk by not knowing enough about their liabilities with respect to
long term waste management. Attitudes
range from the minimal “out of sight out of mind” approach all
the way to aggressive third party auditing of proposed or
continued-use facilities. Further,
many companies employ inside personnel for TSDF facility reviews
who may be experts in such areas as air permitting or wastewater
compliance but lack in full understanding of other environmental
liability concerns.
With David Gibson, a founding partner of the
company, IEA has one of the most experienced Treatment, Storage and Disposal
Facility (TSDF) and Hazardous Waste Transporter auditors available,
with over 200 audits being conducted across the US and in Canada
and Mexico for clients such as Alcoa, ChevronPhillips,
Conoco Phillips, and Coca-Cola. Mr. Gibson has
experience with a large variety of waste handlers including
hazardous waste incinerators, alternative fuel blenders and
cement kilns, used oil processors, fluorescent bulb recyclers,
injection wells, and all types of disposal operations from C&D
landfills to RCRA Subtitle C-regulated facilities.
As a licensed Professional Geologist in
Texas, Mr. Gibson's experience in soil and groundwater assessment
and remediation provides valuable insight in to a facility's
potential for soil and/or groundwater contamination - where the greatest
amount of liability exists for a generator.
In addition to conducting the audits for you,
Mr. Gibson is also available to train your staff on the
intricacies and detail that should be examined at a TSDF should
you elect to conduct the audits in-house. His one-day
training seminar was recently reduced to a one-hour technical
paper presented at the National Registry of Environmental
Professionals (NREP) annual convention.
"On behalf of the attendees of NREP's
2005 Technical Conference, I would like to personally thank you
for your great presentation. We have received outstanding
comments as a result of your presentation, and, because of you, we
broke attendance records. It is obvious to me, and I believe
everyone else, that you spent a great deal of time and effort
preparing and presenting your paper for which I am extremely
grateful."
